Learning from lots of images
First, AI is trained on a huge number of images, each with a description. It learns which words go with which shapes and colors.
A strange exercise: removing noise
The training is unusual: people sprinkle grainy noise over an image until it's nothing but static, then make AI practice removing the noise, bit by bit.
Drawing is removing noise to match your words
When you give a command, AI starts from a screen of static and slowly cleans it up to match your description, until the picture appears.
A detailed description makes a better picture
Your description is a map. The clearer the map, the less AI has to guess.
