The secret is a loop. The system asks you a question and watches whether you answer right or wrong, fast or slow. Then it guesses your level and picks the next question to match.
Right means harder, wrong means step back
Get it right, and the questions get harder. Get it wrong, and it goes back to the basics you're missing. Words you tend to forget come back just before you would forget them.
