The book that doesn't exist
You ask AI for three good books. It answers right away, very sure of itself. You look them up, and one of them doesn't exist.
This has a real name
This is called AI hallucination: a wrong answer that sounds true.
Why does it make things up?
Remember the last video: AI guesses the next word that sounds most likely. When it doesn't know, it doesn't stop. It still guesses a name that sounds very real.
Where it happens most
It happens most with numbers, book titles, laws and links.
WAY 1
Let AI say "I don't know"
One way to cut it down: add "if you're not sure, say you don't know".
WAY 2
Ask for sources, then check
And ask for sources. Click them and check. If a link doesn't open, don't trust it.
