The first draft
AI writes Mark an email asking for time off. It's okay, but Mark feels something is still missing.
SELF-CRITIQUE
Have AI grade itself
Bit suggests: have AI grade its own work, called self-critique. Write: point out three weaknesses in this email, then write a better version.
THE RESULT
The second draft is better
AI spots them itself: no return date, no mention of who covers the work, and the tone is a bit abrupt. The second draft fixes all three.
CRITERIA
Give it a measuring stick
The grading works better if you give it a measuring stick: clear, polite, brief, each scored out of ten.
SWITCH ROLES
Read it like the recipient
Even stronger: have AI play the recipient, like your boss, and give feedback. That combines this with part two.
LIMITS
Self-grading isn't fact-checking
But self-grading doesn't replace fact-checking. If AI made up a number, it may still praise it as correct, as in video 8 about hallucination.
This article is based on the video Let AI grade its own work (self-critique) from the Mark học AI channel. Watch the video (in Vietnamese) to see the animations.
