How far should you open the door?

The last part of the series: chat apps can now connect to your calendar, email and files. The question is how far to open the door and still stay safe.

What is a connection?

Connecting means you let AI open a door into your account. The permission screen spells out what it's allowed to do.

LEVEL 1

Let it read

Level one: let it read. AI looks at your calendar and reads your email to answer your questions. This is the safe level to start with.

LEVEL 2

Let it draft

Level two: let it draft. AI writes emails or appointments for you, but you read them and click send yourself.

LEVEL 3

Don't let it act alone yet

Level three, sending, deleting or paying on your behalf: not yet. One misunderstanding, and the email is gone or the data is lost.

Your own assistant

Now you have your own assistant: it knows who you are, has prompts ready, gives each task a room, reads your documents, works weekly on its own, and only goes where it's allowed. The next series looks at what all this means for your job.
