Decision models

That's a decision model. You give it a question and a list of answers, and it picks just one, with how sure it is.

Jev leads the way

In mid-September 2026, a company called TypeSafe launched Jev, a model that does only this job, very fast and very cheap.

OpenAI joins in

Two weeks later, OpenAI introduced the Decisions API. OpenAI says it picks an answer in about 0.15 seconds, almost ten times faster than a normal reply.

Why does it matter?

AI agents have to make hundreds of small decisions every day. When each decision is faster, the whole system gets faster and cheaper.
