Pasting your whole customer file?
You ask AI to write an email to a customer, and you paste a whole table of names, phone numbers and account numbers. Wait a moment.
Where what you type goes
What you type is sent to the AI company's servers and is often stored. Depending on the service and your settings, it may also be used to train AI.
DON'T PASTE
What not to give AI
Don't paste passwords, one-time codes (OTP), card numbers, ID numbers, health records, customer data or confidential company documents.
HOW TO
You can still ask, just hide the details
You can still get help from AI. Just replace real details with placeholders: a name becomes "Customer A", an amount becomes "X".
HOW TO
Fill in the real details afterwards
Once AI writes the draft, you fill the real details back in yourself. Same result, and your real data never leaves your device.
Check your privacy settings
Also, open the privacy settings of the AI app you use, see what it stores, and turn off what you don't want. If your company has its own AI rules, follow them.
