A call in the middle of the night

Late at night, your child calls, panicking, asking you to send money fast. But it might not be your child.

What is a deepfake?

AI can now copy a person's voice and face. This is called a deepfake.

A few seconds of voice is enough

Scammers only need a few seconds of your voice from a clip you posted online to make new sentences in that same voice. Video calls can have a swapped face too.

WARNING SIGNS

Signs to be suspicious

Common signs: they rush you, ask for money or a one-time code (OTP), and try to stop you from checking.

WAY 1

Hang up and call back yourself

The simplest way: hang up, and call that person back on the number you know.

WAY 2

A family password

The second way: your family agrees on a password only family members know. If a strange call asks for money, ask for that password.
