Copy the answer, stuck again tomorrow
You ask AI a math problem, and it solves it right away, neat and correct. You copy it down and nod. The next day you get a similar problem, and you still can't do it.
THE HARDEST PART
AI does the thinking for you
The problem is that AI did the hardest part for you: the thinking. And that's exactly where learning happens.
SOCRATIC METHOD
Asking back so you think
Over two thousand years ago, Socrates taught by asking questions back, so his students would work out the answers themselves. This is called the Socratic method.
STUDY MODE
Study mode
Now the big AIs all have a mode like that: ChatGPT has Study mode, Gemini has Guided Learning, Claude has learning mode. AI gives hints and asks you questions, instead of handing over the answer.
DO IT YOURSELF
One prompt is enough
If your app doesn't have this mode, no problem. One prompt is enough: don't give me the answer, ask me step by step so I can figure it out myself.
WHEN TO USE IT
Understanding, or just the result?
Use it when you want to understand, like studying or preparing for exams. When you just need a quick result, like converting units, ask directly.
PART 5
Integrated learning
The last part: integrated learning, combining several subjects in one real project.
