Praised in practice, frozen for real

You practice interviews with AI ten times, and get praised every time. At the real interview, the interviewer is cold and fires questions at you, and you freeze.

TRAP 1

AI is too easygoing

Trap one: AI role-play is usually too easygoing. It's trained to be polite, so even a "difficult" customer is much softer than in real life.

TRAP 2

Real life has more

Trap two: a simulation is just a simple version of real life. It leaves out a lot, like a shaky voice, noise and time pressure.

TRAP 3

AI can make things up

Trap three: AI can make things up. The numbers in a budget simulation, or the procedure in a branching scenario, may not match reality.

DEBRIEF

Review after every practice

The fix: ask for real difficulty, and always do a debrief, a review after practice: where did I go wrong, and what will I do differently next time?

REAL PEOPLE

Simulation is a stepping stone

And before the real thing, practice with a real person too. Simulations help you prepare, but they can't replace the real thing.

RECAP

The whole series in one picture

The whole series: practice without fear of mistakes, virtual labs, role-play, branching scenarios, homemade simulations, and how to avoid the traps.
